Professional Development
DBEN continues to support Black DDSB staff in various ways. One of the major ways of support is in professional development. Recognizing the wide variety of positions within the DDSB, DBEN endeavours to support as many Black staff as possible.
Since 2021, a large number of Black employees have been added to the DDSB’s workforce. With identity affirmation and collective representation placed at the forefront within the DDSB, and with a new Human Rights, Anti-Discrimination and Anti-Racism Policy, DBEN, along with the Board’s other Affinity Staff Groups, has not only grown in size but also in its mission and work.
DBEN continues to provide Professional Development opportunities for DDSB staff, in particular, in the following areas:
-
Inservice for Anti-Oppression Resources
-
General Meetings with DDSB Staff and Community
-
Book Clubs
-
First Fridays Partnership
-
In-service about the Human Rights, Anti-Discrimination and Anti-Racism Policy
-
In-service about the DDSB’s Compendium of Action for Black Student Success
Stay tuned for staff workshops to support our members' professional growth.
