The 2026 Cultivating Possibilities Scholarship Award Ceremony
On May 21st, 2026, DBEN hosted its 14th Cultivating Possibilities Scholarship Awards Ceremony. With 250 guests in attendance, the evening was truly beautiful as we celebrated the Black Excellence of 43 of the DDSB’s finest young people.
This year, the scholarship committee raised and awarded $35,000 to these deserving students. The Awards have grown year after year, and this would not be possible without our Community Partners and Sponsors - LINK. We would like to thank our sponsors for all of their generous donations.

The 2026 Black and Brilliant Elementary Conference
On June 13th, the Black and Brilliant Elementary Conference welcomed 100 students and more than 50 parents and caregivers. Students enjoyed a fantastic day of interactive, engaging workshops hosted by Active Scholars, Engineering for Kids, Art with Ashe, Afrocentric Art with Mr. Coleman, High School BSA Leads, and Learning Beyond Limits. Parents and caregivers also attended engaging workshops on a wide range of topics, delivered by the Town of Ajax, The Black Parent Collective, and The Durham Family Cultural Centre.
