The Durham Black Educators Network High School Conference, Cultivating Possibilities, formerly known as the “And Still I Rise High School Conference”, has been uplifting and empowering students across the Durham District School Board since 2011. Held annually each spring, this signature event brings together Black students from across the region for a day of inspiration, learning, and community.
Through engaging keynote speakers, interactive workshops, and culturally affirming experiences, the conference creates space for students to explore identity, build leadership skills, and connect with peers. Rooted in themes of resilience, excellence, and collective strength, the conference continues to honour its legacy while evolving to meet the needs and voices of today’s youth.
This long-standing initiative reflects DBEN’s commitment to supporting student success, amplifying Black voices, and fostering a strong sense of belonging within schools and beyond.
