The High School Ambassador Leadership Program is a dynamic initiative of the Durham Black Educators Network (DBEN) that empowers students to grow as leaders, changemakers, and community builders. Students are selected by their school as well as self-nomination to participate in the program. Through monthly meetings, student ambassadors collaborate, build leadership skills, and take an active role in planning the annual Cultivating Possibilities High School Conference (formally known as And Still I Rise High School Conference) in the Durham Region.
This program provides students with opportunities to develop confidence, strengthen their voice, and engage in meaningful discussions around identity, leadership, and social impact. Ambassadors work together to shape a conference experience that reflects their perspectives and inspires their peers.
By centering student leadership and collaboration, the program not only prepares participants for future success but also ensures that the Cultivating Possibilities High School Conference continues to uplift, empower, and celebrate Black excellence each year.
